The construction of the Isarco River Underpass is located at the extreme southern part of the Brenner Base Tunnel before entering into the Fortezza station. The river underpass is a non-functional construction lot but it is a part of the overall project of the Brenner Base Tunnel. The designed solution provides for the adoption of methods and construction technologies that will minimize the risk associated with the critical issues arising from the complex environment in which the work is inserted. The tunnels, are excavated by means of Jet-Groouting pre-consolidation interventions and cement injections. The river underpass is realized through the use of soil freezing technology. The project thus conceived allows to minimize the environmental and natural impacts in the areas affected by the works and in the neighbouring ones; The design also reduced interference with the natural flow of Isarco river and with the existing road and rail infrastructure.
