Technical Information
2 Parallel  Tunnels:
Total Length: 11.6 km
Diameter: 6.17 m
Stations : 7

The project involves the excavation of two parallel tunnels, one in each direction, approximately 11.6 km long with an internal diameter of approximately 6.17 m.
The “Red Line North Underground”, together with a further 3 metro lines, forms part of the project to build the new infrastructural mobility system promoted by Qatar under the scope of the National Development Plan for 2030 (the “Qatar National Vision 2030”).

Main design issues:
Aggressiveness of Exposure Environment and Durability: Design should consider an aggressive environmental conditions for a service life not lower than 120 years
Below water table: deep permanent structures are placed below the GWL
Exceptional loading conditions: Design should consider various accidental load cases (e.g. blast loads, at rest earth pressure conditions, 30 storeys building load, etc.)
